About Building a Better RPS
As Richmond real estate agents, community involvement is at the core of who we are. Our volunteer initiatives and fundraising efforts have been an integral part of our mission since we formed The Scott Garnett Team in 2015. Each of us currently or previously have had our kids in the Richmond Public School system, making initiatives in the district our top priority.
As a result of our interest in improving the RPS system, we started Building a Better Richmond Public Schools (BBRPS) in 2016. Our mission is simple; to repair and restore our city’s schools through funding and volunteerism. What started as making simple changes around schools like repainting walls and making ceiling tile replacements, has turned into over $300,000 of renovations to over 35 RPS schools.
What You Can Do Now: Partnering with Us
Currently, we are focusing our efforts on providing meal assistance to the 24,000+ students who are now not guaranteed a breakfast or lunchtime meal. Thanks to the help of a few local Richmond business partners, we have already raised over $15,000. We are calling on local businesses and individuals to help us reach our goal of $25,000. (would like to know # of meals that funds).
The Scott Garnett Team has donated $2,000 from sales so far this year and is donating $250 from each home sold going forward to this effort.
Support the Businesses Supporting BBRPS
Ledbury, partnered with us last month and launched its ‘Together Forward Sales Event’, offering deals of 20%, 25%, and 30% off. Since March, they have raised over $8,000 for meal assistance.
